Hello – I am Lotus Carroll. I am an artist – photography is one of my primary mediums. My style and subject matter are eclectic – I have never settled into any niche, preferring to express myself and connect with others in a multitude of ways. My body of work includes nature, landscape, macro, portrait, street, and abandonment photography (and more) – but there is a large amount of self portraiture contained within and I would say that self portraits are a defining part of my artistic journey.
I have long been captivated by the practice of creating self portraits to express and evoke. This website contains an archive of my self portraiture – a journey into, through, and out of my self, in all of its forms and feelings.
I am also the founder (circa 2012) of The Art of Self Portraiture, a community of artists assembled in order to share creative self portraiture, explore different themes and concepts, share information about techniques and styles, BTS posts, and offer inspiration and motivation to those interested in starting or continuing their self portraiture journey. The project/community is still alive today, currently being spearheaded by my long time friend and fellow ASP administrator, Ricardo Williams.
